AH Young Scholar of the Month is Edet Asuquo Okon, from Nigeria!

Edet Asuquo Okon is an exceptional young scholar and a catalyst for positive change in both the academic and professional worlds. He is currently pursuing an MSc in Business Management at the University of Calabar, with a focus on international business, sustainability, innovation, and technology management.

Edet excels as a management analyst at Henshaw Capital Partners Limited, where he leverages his expertise in business redesign, reengineering, and finance to significantly contribute to the company’s growth. He served as an operations research supervisor at Kantar NG from 2019- 2022. His journey is characterized by remarkable accomplishments and supported by a broad spectrum of professional certifications and training.

An uncommon scholar, Edet authored the “Handbook of Information and Innovation Management”, a testament to his commitment to advancing knowledge in the field of business and management. He actively engages in research, with a particular focus on green technology and corporate sustainability, aiming to drive innovation and promote environmentally responsible practices in the business world.

In addition to his academic and professional pursuits, Edet is an advocate for community welfare. He serves as a board member and secretary at the Teenagers Image Maker and Protection Initiative in Calabar, where he dedicates himself to empowering and protecting young individuals, underscoring his commitment to community welfare.

Edet’s journey has been punctuated by numerous accolades, including Certificates of Appreciation from the Mandela Washington Fellowship, recognition from the Nigerian Army 13 Brigade for leading the 2018 joint security performance research in Cross River State, Nigeria, and other honors from various student associations and university bodies. These awards attest to his commitment to excellence and his contributions to various organizations.

He is a passionate advocate for sustainable business and is on a mission to drive positive change in the SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) sector. He is the founder and CEO of Eds Global Consults, an organization with a vision to guide and mentor SMEs, enabling them to enhance their productivity, adopt sustainable practices, and contribute to economic growth while being socially responsible.

As an early-career researcher, he understands the challenges that come with navigating the academic world, such as staying updated with the ever-evolving business landscape, balancing research and professional responsibilities, and securing funding.

For young researchers, Edet offers this advice:
