UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering

The call for applications is currently open for the UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering.

To promote human resource capacities in science and engineering in developing countries and to enhance international understanding and friendship among peoples, UNESCO, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO, and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology, and Engineering at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland offers fellowships for six months to interested applicants who meet the eligibility requirements.

Benefits

As a Fellow, candidates will receive funding and support for:

  • Free tuition and access to university facilities based on local regulations;
  • Monthly allowance of 1500 PLN for BSc degree students and 2200 PLN for MSc degree students;
  • A one-time special allowance of 1500 PLN for BSc degree students or 2200 PLN for MSc to be paid upon arrival in Poland;
  • Air travel ticket (the most direct and economical route) to and from Krakow, Poland;
  • Health insurance (up to 50,000US$ in accordance with EU requirements for Schengen visa) for fellowship beneficiaries who are declared medically fit;
  • One-time special pocket allowance amounting to 120 US dollars.

Eligibility

To apply for the UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: He/she mmuste

  • Between the ages of 25 and 40, meaning at least 25 years old and no older than 40 years old, as of the first day of the Fellowship Program (May 8, 2024).
  • A citizen and resident of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, or Ethiopia.
  • Eligible to receive a US J-1 visa, as far as you know.
  • Proficient in spoken English.
  • Proficient in reading and writing English.
  • At least two or more years of professional work experience.
  • Able to travel to the US for the duration of the five-week Fellowship Program.

Application Process

  • Candidate who complies with the conditions and terms spelled out in the announcement letter, will have the opportunity to choose a maximum of 3 projects among the 30 proposed projects (candidates must provide the priority number of the projects)
  • The candidate is invited to contact her/his National Commission for UNESCO and submit the requested documents to apply
  • The endorsed candidates by their National Commissions should register themselves to the Fellowship e-registration system available on the page: http://www.unesco.agh.edu.pl/en/
  • Candidatures should be submitted by the invited Member State, and channeled through their National Commission before the Deadline.
