Applications for postgraduate study in South Africa in 2024 are being accepted by the Canon Collins Trust in collaboration with Ros Moger and the Terry Furlong group.
The Canon Collins Trust and RMTF are working together to help extraordinary people who are dedicated to promoting social justice in southern Africa and for whom a postgraduate degree is a crucial instrument in the fight for an inclusive and just society.
They will only give scholarships to students pursuing studies in one of three fields in 2024:
- Justice, which includes Climate Justice, Law, Economics and Politics
- Education policy and practice
- Humanities, which includes Literature, History, Anthropology and the Arts
Only applicants whose programme of study falls into one of these disciplines are eligible to apply for the Canon Collins RMTF Scholarships for Postgraduate Study.
The group will provide funding for up to a maximum of two years for Masters and three years for PhD. Continued funding depends upon satisfactory progress and academic reports.
Benefits
- The value of the scholarship package will range from R20,000 to R100,000 depending on the student’s circumstances.
- They support both full and part-time study and will consider applications from those who wish to study by distance learning.
- They also organize an annual conference for current scholars and hold several smaller events throughout the year.
Eligibility
To qualify for Canon Collins RMTF Scholarships for Postgraduate Study applicant must be;
- a national of, or have refugee status in, one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia
- be normally resident in one of the above countries
- in possession of a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
- studying or applying to study at a South African university
