Tenure Track Associate Professor in Interactive Computing

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is offering a Tenure Track Associate Professor position in Interactive Computing in the Netherlands.

The VUA Department of Computer Science is looking for an associate professor focusing on interactive computing topics such as virtual worlds, generative modeling, and creative or visual computing. The position can be shaped in the direction of the expertise of the applicant. Example areas of study could be interaction in systems supporting creative processes, interaction in virtual or augmented reality, generative art, interaction in complex data visualizations, etc. 

Tasks

The career track position in Interactive Computing starts at the level of associate professor in the areas of research, education, and management (40%:40%:20%), and contains the following duties:

  • Setting up and leading a group in the area of interactive computing;
  • Performing research in the field of interactive computing;
  • Teaching computer vision or other courses in the Bachelor and Master Artificial Intelligence and other relevant programs;
  • Supervision of Bachelor, Master, and PhD students;
  • Initiating and contributing to research grant proposals; 
  • Contributing to administrative tasks.

Salary

The Tenure Track Associate Professor in Interactive Computing offers;

  •  a minimum gross monthly salary of €5,506 and a maximum €6,702, depending on education and experience.
  • a maximum of 41 days of annual leave based on full-time employment;
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
  • solid pension scheme (ABP);

Job Requirements

They will base their selection for the Associate Professor in Interactive Computing on the following components:

  • A PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related area;
  • An international research profile, demonstrated by publications in relevant journals and conferences;
  • Academic teaching experience including experience in the supervision of BSc and MSc theses;
  • Experience in the supervision of PhD students;
  • Experience with attracting research funding.
