Senior researcher on Innovative Therapy Development

Radboudumc is searching for a senior researcher to support research in the development of innovative therapies, including gene- and cell-based therapies (Senior researcher on Innovative Therapy Development). 

Radboudumc aims to accelerate the development of therapies for rare diseases by filling the gap between preclinical and clinical science. The “Sectorplan Medical Sciences” provides funding for 13 structural positions to foster research and education in this field.

The position will be embedded in the Laboratory of Hematology – department of laboratory medicine which has a strong record in cell-based therapies including those that apply genetically modified cells. As a senior researcher, candidate will closely interact with researchers of the Radboudumc research community to support the development of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) from the preclinical into the clinical stage.

Tasks

As senior researcher for innovative therapies candidate will:

  • actively participate in ATMP production processes. 
  • support Radboudumc researchers in making the choice for the most suitable technology, required ingredients and its application towards product development. 
  • keep track of the latest technological developments in the field and promote the introduction at Radboudumc when appropriate.
  • closely interact within the Radboudumc Technology Centers to make technologies broadly available.
  • organize and contribute educational sessions for the Radboudumc research community. 
  • guide Radboudumc researchers with your expertise in the writing   of documents required for clinical translation. 
  • contribute to committees aiming at improving facilities (eg. Cleanroom facilities) for the translation of innovative cell and gene therapies into clinical applications.

Salary

  • A gross monthly salary between € 5.249 and € 6.717 based on full-time employment. 
  • From 1 November 2023 the wages will increase by 4%.
  • An annual vacation allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • As a full-time employee (36 hours per week), they are entitled to approximately 168 vacation hours (over 23 days) per year.
  • Radboud university medical center pays 70% of the pension premium.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • a PhD and postdoc experience providing a strong track record in the development and application of approaches for cell-based therapies (ATMPs) and/or to correct genetic defects (gene therapies), including aspects of manufacturing investigational products, safety/toxicity, and regulatory affairs.
  • strong knowledge on GMP manufacturing.
  • strong collaborative and networking skills.
  • experience with rare diseases and/or therapy development is preferred. 
  • strong organisational skills. 
  • fluency in English (written and spoken). 
  • Have a clear and effective communication style in English and Dutch.
