The Stanford Centre for Human and Planetary Health seeks a full-time Program and Communications Coordinator to coordinate programmatic activities, assist with communications and outreach efforts, and organize events for the Centre.
This is a new position for the Centre and offers an exciting and dynamic opportunity to help build a vibrant human and planetary health community and contribute significantly to its global impact.
This includes:
- Assisting with the Centre’s outreach and communications efforts, including preparing a weekly newsletter that summarizes efforts in human and planetary health and maintaining the Centre’s website.
- Organizing the Centre’s quarterly speaker series and other events that help to build community and inspire students.
- Coordinating and scheduling the Centre’s team meetings and the Centre’s steering committee.
- Tracking the Centre’s annual monitoring and evaluation activities to assess progress, impact, and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting HPH leadership in a variety of tasks, including administration, calendaring, program coordination, communications, outreach, and event planning.

Tasks
- Produce HPH weekly news, events, and opportunities digests. Track global trends in human and planetary health—and activities at Stanford—to compile a curated weekly newsletter which is distributed to over 1,000 people each Friday.
- Maintain the HPH website, post news and publications, and ensure all content is updated and current.
- Launch new HPH social media channels and produce, schedule, and post social media assets (graphical and written).
- Manage the HPH listserv and subscriber data.
- Produce graphics, presentations, and reports. Design flyers for HPH courses and events. Lead event marketing efforts in partnership with the Woods Events team.
- Recruit, train, and manage HPH student communications assistants.
- Coordinate team and steering committee meetings, take meeting notes, and capture action items.
- Order food and reserve rooms for meetings.
- Schedule meetings and candidate interviews, organize and distribute applications for review committees, etc.
- Plan team events, e.g., holiday parties.
- Research Stanford’s impact against set metrics (e.g., # of publications, # of RSVPs for events, etc.) and prepare a complete draft annual report.
- Update and monitor progress goals in the HPH annual work plan. Flag any concerns to the HPH Managing Director.
- Collect and report on social media, web, and newsletter metrics reflecting the impact of HPH’s communications activities.
Salary
The salary range for a Program and Communications Coordinator is $111,866 to $146,847 per year.
Job Requirements
To be successful in this position as Program and Communications Coordinator, applicants will need:
- College degree in communications, public health, sustainability, environmental science, or another related interdisciplinary field.
- Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
- Communications, event planning, marketing, and/or outreach work experience, ideally in an academic or mission-driven environment (e.g., NGO).
- Experience maintaining a website.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Administrative and program coordination experience, ideally in a small and fast-paced team.
- Strong analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals across different levels of the organization, including faculty, administrators, and students.
- Design experience, ideally with Canva.
