Applications for the DAAD-EPOS funded PhD program “Mathematics in Industry and Commerce, MIC” at Technical University Kaiserslautern are now open.
The DAAD-EPOS PhD program offers individual scholarships to participants from developing countries so that they may study development-related postgraduate courses at selected universities in Germany. Each year, four to five new scholarship holders can be selected for the program. The condition for funding is that the countries of origin of the scholarship holders are classified as developing countries according to the OECD, ie they are listed in the annually updated DAC list.
In the “Mathematics in Industry and Commerce, MIC” program, the PhD candidates preferably work on mathematical modeling problems that are directly related to their home country. The optimal control of water networks or traffic flows, evacuation problems, development of earthquake-resistant concrete parts, simulation of the spread of diseases, or new methods of financial and actuarial mathematics are only a few of the many fields of research.
Duration: The DAAD-EPOS PhD program MIC is designed for 3 years

Eligibility
To be eligible for DAAD-EPOS scholarships, applicants must have:
- An excellent Master’s degree in mathematics.
- A very good knowledge of the English language.
- Two years of relevant professional experience.
- In addition, belong to one of the qualifying countries of origin.
