The Women In News Editorial Leadership 2022 Award is currently open for nominations of outstanding women writers and editors.
The Women in News Editorial Leadership Award is a career accomplishment award that honors an Editor’s outstanding commitment to her newsroom – and, under her leadership, her newspaper’s service to society.
Three outstanding women editors from Africa, the Arab Region, and Southeast Asia will be honored with the Women in News Editorial Leadership Award for inspiring and leading the path forward for the next generation of leaders.
On the other hand, the Laureate will have a proven track record of achievement in her newsroom, unwavering editorial integrity throughout her career, and a strong commitment to press freedom and its power to promote democracy and good governance. They have a demonstrated commitment to gender equality, mentoring, and elevating their employees while fostering an egalitarian organizational culture.
Eligibility
Below are the requirements for The Women In News Editorial Leadership Award 2022
- News media (newspapers, magazines, and digital-only) of all sizes from sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab Region, and Southeast Asia are encouraged to submit a nomination.
- Eligible nominees must hold a senior editorial role as of 1 January 2022.
Nominations
Nominations for The Women In News Editorial Leadership Award should include:
- Completed entry form
- Three signed letters of nomination or one letter endorsed by three individuals or organizations.
- The nomination letter should detail the specific efforts taken on behalf of the protection of First Amendment rights; obstacles and difficulties encountered, and impact made as a result of those efforts how they have contributed to the protection of the First Amendment.
- Supporting materials may consist of published or broadcast materials, documentation of service or lifetime achievement, or any appropriate materials.
