The Faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University currently invites applications for the position of Education Coordinator in Marine Sciences.
The faculties of Geosciences and Sciences and the Royal Netherlands Institute of Sea Research (NIOZ) cooperate in research and education within an extensive Marine Sciences programme. they are going to develop an interdisciplinary study track Marine Sciences on the interface between the Bachelor’s programmes Biology and Earth Sciences and update the Master’s degree programme Marine Sciences
Tasks
The key task for this position is to lay down the basis of the interdisciplinary bachelor’s track in marine sciences and to help renew the master’s programme in marine sciences. Except for that, the candidate will:
- create a detailed, structured overview of the content of the current Marine Sciences-related courses within the Bachelor’s programmes of Biology and Earth Sciences and the Master’s programme in Earth Sciences;
- identify gaps and overlaps of the current courses, given the overall learning outcomes as defined for the programmes;
- define skills learning lines for the new Bachelor’s track, fully consistent with the way skills are addressed in the Biology and Earth Sciences majors as a whole;
- propose the content, structure, and student activities for online repair modules for Earth sciences and Biology Bachelor’s students on the basis of the above;
- work together with lecturers (UU and NIOZ) to carry out the renewal of the Master’s programme in Marine Sciences.
Salary
In accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities, they offer:
- a gross monthly salary between €3,226 and €3,877 in the case of full-time employment;
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
- a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
Job Requirements
Applicants for the Education Coordinator in Marine Sciences position must meet the following criteria:
- knowledge and experience in the development of bachelor’s and/or master’s degree programmes.
- a strong affinity with the marine sciences.
- have good communication and organisational skills.
- proficiency in written and spoken English.
