Assistant Professor of Communication Science

The Faculty of Behavioural, Management, and Social Sciences (BMS), University of Twente calls for applications for the Assistant Professor position of Communication Science.

The University of Twente’s Communication Science department seeks to empower people and organizations in our high-tech, digital world by examining how they interact with and adapt to their surroundings in the face of ongoing technological advancements and societal changes. In light of this, they are now seeking an Assistant Professor of Digital Marketing to bolster our team’s efforts in these areas. They specifically want candidates who research and instruct on cutting-edge technologies, such as the use of AI and algorithms for personalized communication or the non-profit applications of digital marketing.

Tasks

The successful candidate: 

  • Will be teaching in the top-ranked bachelor’s and master’s programmes of Communication Science.
  • In the bachelor’s programme they will contribute to modules in the ‘persuasive tech’ track.
  • While in the master’s programme they will teach a course closely related to research expertise for example in the master’s double degree program Digital Marketing (COM and BA) is designed to make students understand the most innovative technologies and acquire the skills to manage the upcoming technological disruptions in marketing.
  • They encourage candidates to develop a productive and viable research line and play an active role in the acquisition of research funding.

Job Requirements

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

  • have a (nearly finished) PhD in communication science or related disciplines (e.g., psychology, business administration)
  • have strong affinity with marketing communication in our digital society and are interested in the implications of technological innovations for organizations and people
  • research interest covers digital marketing in combination with tech developments such as AI
  • are an excellent teacher
  • have a good track record in research, reflected in high-quality publications
  • they expect that will be able to set up and maintain a network within the academic world and with relevant external stakeholders such as companies and tech developers.
  • candidates are required to obtain a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ)
