Wageningen University & Research calls for applications for an Assistant Professor position in Product Quality and postharvest physiology (Tenure Track).

Tasks

  • In this challenging career trajectory, the candidate will
  • collaborate with colleagues and establish a personal research portfolio that is embedded in the Horticulture and Product Physiology group
  • perform physiological research on quality at harvest and postharvest of horticultural products (vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, and/or pot plants) produced in controlled environment agriculture. 
  • Together with the chairholder and other staff members, acquire, lead, and implement innovative and creative (inter-)national research projects for our group. 
  • supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students. You will also develop and teach courses (lectures, practicals) about the quality of horticultural products.
  • undertake research that leads to high-quality research output.
  • Also, his/her research contributes to improving the quality and sustainability of horticultural products. 

Duration:  07 years

Salary

  • Wageningen University & Research offers a competitive salary of between € 3.821 and € 5.230 for full-time service.
  • sabbatical leave, study leave, and paid parental leave;
  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • the option to accrue additional holiday hours by working more, up to 40 hours per week;
  • a fixed December bonus of 8.3%;

Job Requirements

Qualified applicants must meet the following criteria

  • hold a PhD degree in plant physiology, plant science, or a related field
  • have experience in research in one or more of the following topics: plant product quality, postharvest, plant physiology, phenotyping, and/or computational biology
  • have published research in high-quality journals and are willing to develop your skills in teaching and grant proposal acquisition
  • are intellectually curious
  • are good at communication and enjoy connecting and collaborating and enjoy working in a committed and diverse team.
