The Department of Information and Computing Sciences, Software Technology for Learning and Teaching Utrecht University is looking for Assistant Professor in Computer Science Education.
As an assistant professor, the candidate will actively engage in research, teaching, and supervision in the field of Information and Computing Sciences. In this position, the special focus will be on Computing Education research, which studies how people learn and teach computing-related subjects. The research focuses on methods, formalisms, tools, or languages that support students’ learning in Computer Science and related fields. To develop new research collaborations and application areas, the candidate will actively seek internal and external (interdisciplinary) collaborations and acquire funding for research.
Duration: 2 years
Salary
- A gross salary – depending on previous qualifications and experience – ranging between €3,974 and €6,181 per month
- Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for the Assistant Professor in Computer Science Education are to meet the following qualifications:
- a PhD in Computer Science, Information Science or another relevant discipline;
- publications with impact in international conferences and journals;
- experience with using and enthusiasm to use innovative teaching methods and (e-learning) technologies;
- experience with, or good prospects for, acquiring external research funds;
- a vision on future research directions in your own area of expertise;
- experience with, or readiness to, supervise PhD projects;
- experience with and enthusiasm for teaching and student supervision (BSc and MSc level);
- proficient in English, both written and spoken
