Assistant professor Governance of Crisis, with an Interest in Cyber Security

The Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) of Leiden University is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Governance of Crisis, with an interest in cyber security.

This position is situated within Leiden University’s Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA), part of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs (FGGA) and based in The Hague.

Crisis Governance research has traditionally focused on either functional approaches to crisis management (mitigating tangible harm) or political approaches (responding to legitimacy and reputation threats, and organizational contingencies resulting from crises). Meanwhile, research on cyber security predominantly focuses on vulnerability and threat detection, in order to prevent incidents. However, not all cyber incidents can be prevented. Therefore, more knowledge and expertise on cyber crises and the emergency response in relation to cyber crises is needed. Research at the intersection between crisis management and (the governance of) cyber security can remedy this gap. We are looking for a scholar who combines crisis governance expertise with a research and teaching interest in cyber security incidents and their consequences.
