PhD position: Influence of Institutional Capacity on the Impact of Agricultural Research Activities

Applications are welcome for a PhD position: Influence of institutional capacity on the impact of agricultural research activities – Wageningen University & Research (WUR).

Evidence of the positive benefits of national public investments in agricultural research is becoming increasingly important. To date, evaluations have primarily focused on the intended outcomes of planned, clearly demarcated interventions, ie. projects for accountability purposes, despite a long history of criticism about their limited value for understanding problems, learning to collectively create potential solutions and system change. To have an impact on complex problems, research institutes must recognize the plethora of significant factors that contribute to the inherent unpredictability of the change process and an attribution problem in the evaluation process.
