Scientists around the world are welcome to nominate candidates for the 2023 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science (FWIS) International Awards.
The Foundation L’Oréal and UNESCO invite the public to nominate eminent women scientists for the 2023 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards.
The For Women in Science (FWIS) International Awards will recognize five exceptional female scientists in the physical sciences, mathematics, and computer science in the year 2023. At a ceremony in March 2023, each of the five Laureates will receive a considerable sum of money for their contributions to scientific research.

Each of the Laureates for the 2023 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards will receive €100,000
Eligibility
To be eligible for the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards, applicants must meet the following:
- The applicant must be acknowledged by the international scientific community for her scientific excellence.
- Participate in scientific research on a regular basis.
- Participate in any of the physical sciences, mathematics, or computer science fields.
Selection
- The candidate’s outstanding contribution to the advancement of science,
- The impact of the candidate’s research work on the current state of her scientific field (number, quality, and impact of publications, conference presentations, patents…),
- The recognition of the candidate by peers within her discipline through publications,
- The recognition of the candidate’s commitment to education, teaching activities, mentoring, and/or to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals more broadly.
