Research Assistant for Econometric Assessment of Ecosystem Services

OpenGeoHub foundation is looking for a junior researcher / PhD candidate in the field of geoinformatics/econometrics for the purposes of calculating and tracking ecosystem services.

would develop code (programming in R, Python, Bash, Julia, and similar) to apply functions to compute ecosystem services using state-of-the-art Environmental-Economic Accounting e.g. the (SEEA; https://seea.un.org/). These would be applied in gridded / multiarray systems (data cubes) so that financial gains, risks, and potentials can be derived per pixel (including the associated uncertainty) and potentially at high spatial resolutions.

A formal program of PhD study will be organized jointly with the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing, Department of Environmental Sciences, Wageningen University and Research, and GFZ Helmholtz German Research Centre for Geosciences (prof. dr. Martin Herold and prof. dr. Lars Hein). This implies that you would spend a significant amount of time writing and publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals, meeting with supervisors (bi-weekly), following PhD courses (organized through the PE&RC Postgraduate school), and networking with other researchers.
