The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) welcomes applications for the IUPAP Grants for Women in Physics in Developing Countries.
The IUPAP Women in Physics is launching a new round of the IUPAP Conference Accessibility Grants Program. This program was created to help fund women from developing and low-income countries, who may not have another opportunity, to attend a conference, workshop, or class, either in-person or virtually.
The International Conference on Women in Physics (ICWIP) is held every three years, bringing together men and women from around the world to report on the situation of women in physics in their country, to share good practices, to suggest and implement means of improvement and to network. Over 92 different countries and over 1300 delegates have attended the ICWIPs and many new national bodies on women in physics have been created and regional meetings have taken place.
Benefits
Women may apply for up to $750 to help make attending an event more accessible. Grant funds may cover
- registration fees,
- travel,
- technical equipment, and
- childcare.
Application Process
Applicants submit an accompanying application, which requests the following information:
- Complete personal information including name, mailing address, e-mail, phone number, and degree details.
- Brief description of the conference, class, or workshop you wish to attend (including date of conference, place & website if available) and note whether they will be making a presentation.
- A brief statement of how attending the conference will enhance their career.
- List of any regional or international conferences they may have attended.
- List their publications from the last 5 years.
- A breakdown of how the funds will be used.
- For those requesting funds for items such as childcare and technology, a brief description of how the funds will enhance their participation in the conference.
- One Letter of recommendation.
