PhD position: Interaction between Wind and Farms at University of Twente

The Faculty of Science & Technology seeks applications from young scholars for its PhD position ‘Interaction between Wind and Farms’.

Advancements in wind turbine technology have resulted in the growing use of wind energy to reduce carbon emissions. Modern wind turbines and wind farms are becoming so large that their performance is affected by atmospheric turbulence flow phenomena that are not yet well explored. In this PhD project, candidates will develop novel large-eddy simulation techniques to investigate the interaction between different wind farm clusters, as is for example planned in the North Sea region, and the interaction with large-scale weather phenomena.
