The Utrecht University School of Economics is inviting applications for Junior Lecturers in Economics, Business Economics/Finance.
Candidates can instruct introductory or intermediate-level courses in Economics, Business Economics, and/or Finance as junior instructors in these fields. Here are some pointers for planning and teaching lessons that are effective:
Recognize who the audience are: It’s critical to comprehend students backgrounds and experiences in order to customize teachings. Are the majority of the students upperclassmen who have already taken a number of courses in the field, or freshmen who are just starting out? Do they already know anything about it or have any experience with it?
Begin with the fundamentals: Start with the basics of the topic, such as its defining terms, theories, and concepts. The students will have a strong foundation to build upon going forward as a result.
As part of the Undergraduate School’s teaching staff, they will teach courses in our Bachelor’s program Economics & Business Economics. They will spend 90% of their time on teaching tasks and 10% on research and educational development.
Tasks
As junior lecturers of Business Economics/Finance, they will:
- Teach tutorials and become the tutor of a group of freshmen students;
- Contribute to a wide range of courses in economics, business economics and/or finance, depending on your interests and background;
- Participate in all other activities related to teaching in the Bachelor’s program.
Duration: 04 years.
Salary
The Business Economics/Finance position offer:
- A gross salary – depending on previous qualifications and experience – ranges between €2,960 and €4,670 per month
- 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
- A pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities;
- The necessary support on all aspects of the project.
Job Requirements
Utrecht is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated junior lecturer who has:
- A Master’s degree in economics, business economics, finance, or a related discipline;
- Excellent communication and coordination skills;
- Fluency in spoken and written English;
- Affinity with the full spectrum of courses taught in U.S.E.’s Bachelor’s programme;
- Potential to become an excellent teacher in the field of economics, business economics and/or finance.
